By choosing the College of Social Sciences, you’ll not only choose from a diverse group of programs such as Mass Communication, Nursing, and Pastoral Studies, and disciplines such as Counseling, Criminal Justice, Liberal Studies, Political Science, and Sociology, but you’ll also be choosing a college touted as a leader, singled out for excellence as one of the Great Schools for Communications Majors and Great Schools for Journalism Majors by the Princeton Review in 2008.
In addition, the College of Social Sciences is home to several centers and institutes that serve as important resources as Loyola teaches students to think critically and act justly: Center for Environmental Communication, Jesuit Social Research Institute, Shawn M. Donnelley Center for Nonprofit Communication, and the Twomey Center for Peace Through Justice.
At the 2012 College of Social Sciences Honors Convocation Kristen Lee was awarded the Outstanding Academic Achievement and Community Service Award. This award is presented to the graduating senior with the highest record of academic achievement and community service.
At the 2012 CSS Honors Convocation, Professor Peter Burns was awarded the Excellence in Research Award
Robin Gusman Rhodes (‘10), Ashley Ugalano (‘10), and Mariel Gonzalez (summer 2011) were all recently hired as a school counselors at Mt. Carmel Academy in New Orleans.
